The energy certification is a great tool when you want to reduce the cost of the building’s energy consumption. Investment in extended insulation, new windows, more energy efficient and better controlled ventilation and HVAC installations and also demand controlled lighting are often offering considerable savings and reasonable repayment periods. Commercial constructions When selling and leasing commercial buildings for commerce, service and administration an energy certification is a requirement. At the 1st July 2009 it was agreed that commercial buildings on more than 1000 m², must conduct a regular energy certification every five years - regardless of whether the building is to be sold or leased. Multi-family houses When an apartment or a part are to be sold or leased a valid energy certification for the building the apartment is a part of must exist. |
Single-family houses Buildings put up for sale after the first July 2010 must state an energy certification in the sales advertisement. In practice this means that when a family house is be sold it must hold an energy certification. This requirement applies only at sales. Energy certifications for all types of buildings are valid for 7 -10 years from the date the energy certification is reported.
